Rules and Regulations For US Student Visa

The USCIS has a number of requirements that must be met by students who are applying for a student visa. If you’re enrolling in an academic program, then it is important to be aware of the various student visas for colleges and universities.

You should ensure that the SEVP certification of the university is valid for non-immigrant students.

Students can apply for different visas. Those who wish to enroll in a conservatory or private elementary school as well as a seminary, high-school, university, and college, are eligible to receive the F-visa. Those seeking admission to a language school, vocational training program, or non-academic institution are eligible to obtain the M-visa.

If you want to do a short study program for fun that lasts less than 18-hours, then you can get a visitor visa. But, if it’s a course lasting more than seven days or 18-hours a week, then you will need a student visa.

You will also need a student visa if you are required to attend academic conferences, seminars, or programs of study in the US. To avoid any hassles, it is best to apply early for a student visa in the US. The US Consulate issues the student visa within 120 days of the course registration. The application is held by the embassy until the visa has been issued.

According to the Department of Homeland Security regulations, students must be in the US for no more than 30 days before the start of the academic session. Students who plan to arrive in the US more than 30 calendar days before the start of an academic session will be denied entry.

You will need a tourist’s visa and you must make it clear that your intention is to study to the Immigration officers at the port of entry into the US.

You will have to apply for the change of status by submitting the Form I-539. The Form I-20 must be submitted to the Department of Homeland Security.

If the visa category does not change, you will be unable to begin your academic session.

Students who are already enrolled can apply for another visa at any time. They should however have their student status and records current at SEVIS. Then they can enter the US whenever it suits them before classes begin. The student should also check with the university or college to see what their rules and regulations are.

If you’re unsure of the correct direction to follow when applying for a student Visa, you should seek the help of an immigration lawyer or international student service to make sure that all the documentation and application is completed correctly.

You can lose your chance of getting a student visa for the USA if you make a mistake.
